TWO RIVERS – After a week of windy and unsettled weather, race organizers were relieved to have much more favorable weather for race weekend.

“When preparing to host a big outdoor event, the most obvious variable is the weather,” said race director Scott Jansky. “Sunny skies and seasonal temperatures contributed to record numbers again this year and certainly made the event more enjoyable for our runners, spectators and volunteers.”

More than 300 runners competed Sunday.

Seymour’s Tyler Sigl won his third Aurora Health Care Two Rivers 10-Mile men’s title on Sunday. After capturing titles in 2013 and 2014, Sigl placed second last year just six seconds behind Milwaukee’s John Dewitt’s course record breaking performance. Sigl, an NCAA Division III Cross Country and 10,000m National Champion while competing at UW-Platteville, cruised to victory in a time of 52:31.

Scott Allen, of Milwaukee, finished second (55:51) and Eric Pilling, of Shorewood, finished third (57:49).

For the women, Laura Schmitz (Oshkosh) captured her first Two Rivers 10-Mile women’s title in a time of 1:05:24, after finishing fourth last year. Second and third went to local Two Rivers’ runners; Nicole Strutz 1:07:18 and Suzy Stanley 1:10:18. Strutz time broke her own 20-24 age division record, while Stanley equaled her 2015 time.

The men’s and women’s master’s titles went to Mike Beix, of Caledonia, (1:01:43) and Kristen Brazzale, of Sheboygan, (1:17:31).

In the relay events, the winning women’s team was Mommy’s Time Out (Aprill Rykal and Amy Behrendt) of Menasha (1:25:17); the men’s title went to Two and a Half Men (Joel Kuhl, Justin Litersky, and Brody Kust) of Two Rivers (1:17:18); and the coed win went to Two Hotties and a Donkey (Lori Witt, Eden Witt, and Andy Witt) of Oconto Falls (1:15:15).

The 2-Mile runs were won by a pair of Two Rivers’ runners. Ben Weina won the men’s race in a time of 12:52, while Anna Gallagher paced the women in a time of 13:34.
