Luy, Kowalke claim Two Rivers 10-Mile titles

TWO RIVERS – Brookfield’s David Luy claimed the men’s title during the sixth annual Aurora Health Care Two Rivers 10-Mile with a finishing time of 51:45 March 26.

Rounding out the top three were Wauwatosa’s John Liddell (55:35) and Manitowoc Lincoln cross country coach Michael Bubolz (55:39).

Mike Cavanaugh, also of Manitowoc, who was runner-up in last year’s 2-Mile, took home the Master’s crown in a time of 1:04:01.

For the women, Caitlin Kowalke of Cross Plains captured her third Two Rivers 10-Mile title after winning in 2015 and 2017. Her winning time of 1:00:35 was just off her course record time of 59:07 she set in 2015.

Laura Schmitz of Oshkosh, 2016 Two Rivers 10-Mile champion, finished second in 1:04:22 while Green Bay’s Callie Bartel posted her third top finish, coming in third in a time of 1:05:55.

In the women’s masters division, Suzy Stanley of Two Rivers ran 1:08:36 to claim her third consecutive master’s crown.

In the 2-Mile, Brad Theyerl of Fond du Lac set a new Two Rivers 2-Mile course record in a time of 10:45. Jacque Linzmeier (Two Rivers) was the first female finisher in 15:15.

In the 3-Person Relay event, team P, B, and J (Jared Krahn, Pedro Guzman, and Ben Weina) set a new men’s relay course record in impressive fashion with a time of 1:03:52 (old mark was 1:10:47 set in 2013).

For the coed relay, Green Bay’s Team Kubicki (Ben Kubicki, Jean Kubicki, and Aubree Kubicki) claimed the coed title in recording setting fashion and were the second overall relay in 1:08:12. In the female division, it was team The 3 Amigas (Christine Megna, Michele Kosteleck, and Sarah Curran) claiming the top spot with a time of 1:38:57

In the inaugural 1/3 Mile Kids’ Run March 25, Sofia Soukup was the top girl (2:05) and Cayden Brouchud was the top boy (2:17).
